I picked my car up from Europcar outside Antananarivo Airport and returned it there as well. Their booking system is available online and has a super easy cancellation process. They are also available globally and the company has a quick pick up process.
I was pleased that the woman at the counter greeted me with a warm smile and showed me my rental car. It was a Volkswagen Polo 1.4 and it had features such as air conditioning, four seats, unlimited kilometres and was roomy. It had four airbags and a car alarm which gave me a high level of protection when I was in the car. The fuel type was standard petrol and it would go 40 kilometers with a litre of petrol. The luggage capacity in the boot was big enough to hold three large suitcases. The car is comfortable but you have to be 23 years old and over to drive this luxurious and efficient car in Madagascar.
You can use your New Zealand drivers licence. If someone steals or damages your car Europcar provides free motor vehicle insurance for up to eight days so I didn't have any worries about the car. This car will comfortably get me to the fabulous attractions, divine restaurants and cafes and outstanding hotels I am looking forward to visiting.
The rental car costs are $75.50 per day. The total cost for my petrol was $710.59 what a great deal!
